We're only a few short months away from another outstanding annual Fall FAST Clinic at Lamar, CO (KLAA). The event date this year is Thursday September 17th - Sunday September 20th. Please note that the name of Lamar Municipal Airport has changed to Southeast Colorado Regional Airport. The identifier hasn't changed, just the name. So when you check AWOS expect a different name than in the past.
Once again Allen "RAID" Tinnes and Mickey "FRAID" Tinnes have invited us out to their home Thursday evening for another fantastic evening of eating, drinking and shooting (not necessarily in that order, but possible). You're welcome to bring your favorite shootin' iron. Raid has nice trap thrower and several shotguns. He will also have handgun and rifle targets set up. If you'd like to use RAID's shotguns, feel free to bring a box or two of 12 gauge shells.
There are no scheduled football games for flyovers yet, but we'll see what's available as we get closer for Lamar, Granada and Wiley Friday evening for those that want to keep their night formation skills current! RAID is also going to see if we can do another golf ball drop at the golf course.
Eric and Tanya with Lamar Flying Service are ready for us to descend on their operation once again and will have courtesy cars available. Lodging location TBD soon.
Expected event cost will be $100 per person to cover lunch and drinks each day, evening meals...and adult beverages when flight ops cease. Dinner arrangements each evening are being discussed and the Saturday evening Colorado YAKPAK Awards and Recognition Banquet location TBD.
If you haven't been to a Lamar FAST Clinic, you don't know what you've been missing! From the flying (particularly the last flight of the day mass Battle of Britain similar tail chase), the camaraderie, the shooting, the food and the local hospitality, it can't be beat!
Hope you all can make it. Please let us know your training needs and your planned days of arrival and departure. Contact numbers below in the earlier text.
Lodging details to follow in a few days. Those of you have attended in the past few years are welcome to provide feedback to me on both the Holiday Inn Express and the older Holiday Motel (not associated with the Holiday Inn franchise).
Fly safe, fly often and FLY NAVY!
